Federal Government Girls' College, Ibusa opened on the 13th May, 1995 with 264 students. All the students were admitted into form 1. The site of this new school is the old St. Thomas Teachers Training College, which later became a secondary school in 1988, when the Federal Government created more state in 1991 the need arose for more unity schools to be established. Ours became one of the 19 new unity schools established in October 1994. It is a standing policy of the Federal Ministry of education to have two unity schools in each state, one co-educational and the other for girls only. Federal Government Girls College, Ibusa Therefore became the second school in Delta State after Federal Government College, Warri.
